"Nature in Watercolor" by Sally Gillooly
Local artist Sally Gillooly has always loved art and drawing but had not tried painting. She began watercolor painting at The Arts Center in Carrboro, NC, about 15 years ago and has continued to take classes from Luna Lee Ray. Her inspirations for painting come from the designs, patterns, textures, and bright colors of nature.
"My general approach to art is to portray the image in a fairly realistic way and to use color to make it vibrant. I am inspired by nature and its many varied patterns, textures, and color. I use watercolor as my medium along with salt, saran wrap, rubbing alcohol, pen, and infrequently gouache and gesso. I find painting to be relaxing and a way to let my mind become open to the possibilities of creating something that I did not anticipate at the start of the piece."
Meet Sally and enjoy complimentary refreshments during the Chapel Hill Carrboro 2nd Friday Artwalk, Friday July 13 from 6-8pm.
